Some Examples of Our Work

The AES Corporation | Cumberland, MD USA

Project Type: Interior Lighting

GV Lights: 4 foot tubes, MA-40

Estimated Electric Utility Savings: 70%

Incentives Applicable: Potomac Edison (MD)

The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES) is a Fortune 200 global power company. They provide affordable, sustainable energy to 17 countries through a diverse portfolio of distribution businesses as well as thermal and renewable generation facilities. It’s workforce of 18,500 people is committed to operational excellence and meeting the world’s changing power needs. Their 2014 revenues were $17 billion and they own and manage $39 billion in total assets.
AES Warrior Run, an AES owned and operated coal power plant located in Cumberland, MD, was looking for a way to reduce maintenance costs related to frequently burned out High Pressure Sodium and fluorescent lights at their facility. GreenerVolts supplied LED lamps, LED Tubes, and LED panels to address their lighting challenges, resulting in less power consumption and lower maintenance costs related to lighting.

Fishman Properties/Rosemont Management Company | Frederick, MD USA

Project Type: Parking Lot Lighting

GV Lights: StreetSmart 120

Estimated Electric Utility Savings: 70%

Incentives Applicable: Potomac Edison (MD)

Rosemont Management is the property management arm of Fishman Properties, a long established Commercial and Industrial Real Estate company in the Frederick, MD area.

Rosemont wanted to replace its aging 400W Metal Halide parking lot shoebox lights with something that would be brighter and long lasting, without breaking the bank. They evaluated several GreenerVolts LED options, and settled on the GV StreetSmart 120 parking lot light for the project.

At 120 watts, this LED Street/Parking Lot fixture is plenty bright to illuminate the parking lots at three different Fishman Properties, and now provides a brighter, safer environment for all property tenants, and clearer video surveillance imagery. Potomac Edison Energy Efficient Lighting Incentives contributed to this project, helping to bring the estimated payback period to less than 18 months.

84 Lumber – Mount Airy Retail Store | Mount Airy, MD USA

Project Type: Retail Interior/High Bay Lighting

GV Lights: Linear HighBay 150

Estimated Electric Utility Savings: 50%

Incentives Applicable: Not Applicable

84 Lumber is a national chain of Home Improvement stores, with a heavy presence in the Mid-Atlantic area. The Mount Airy store needed a way to brighten up its showroom, without increasing the number of fixtures already installed in the store.  We replaced all of their Fluorescent tube T8 High Bay fixtures (6 tubes per fixture) with our slim and lovely GV Linear High Bay 150.

In addition to a more elegant architectural look, the net result is a much brighter store showroom, that allows customers to quickly find and identify the products they are looking for, a must in any successful retail environment.  Finally, light replacement and maintenance, which is disruptive in a retail environment, is a thing of the past.

The LED lighting in this 84 Lumber store serves as a model for the ideal lighting at any of their future stores.

Adventure Park USA | Monrovia, MD USA

Project Type: Amusement Park

GV Lights: MA-09, MA-20, MA-60, 4 foot tubes, 2x2 panels, BR-30, BR-20, PAR-38

Estimated Electric Utility Savings: 70%

Incentives Applicable: Potomac Edison (MD)

Since the summer of 2005 when Adventure Park USA opened its gates, guests have been raving about this exciting family entertainment center. Adventure Park USA is a 17.5 acre Western theme park featuring a 22,000 square foot building to accommodate indoor as well as outdoor adventures. The park’s Western theme infiltrates all of the store fronts, the golf courses, the laser tag, and 2 thrilling roller coasters.

Park owner Larry Stottlemyer was looking for a way to reduce electric utility and maintenance costs related to park lighting (both indoor and outdoor). By partnering with GreenerVolts for a complete LED upgrade, Adventure Park USA has been able to reduce its energy consumption related to lighting by an estimated 70-80%, and light replacement duties are a thing of the past.

The GreenerVolts LED upgrade included indoor lighting for the main building, as well as outdoor lighting for the miniature golf course, parking lot, go-kart track, roller coasters, and other park attractions.

Premium Distributors of Maryland | Frederick, MD USA

Project Type: Beer Distribution Warehouse/High Bay Lighting

GV Lights: MA-100, Control Freak

Estimated Electric Utility Savings: 75-80%

Incentives Applicable: Potomac Edison (MD)

Premium Distributors of Maryland sells and distributes over 1.5 million cases of beer from one warehouse in Frederick, Maryland to over 800 retailers throughout Frederick and Howard counties.

For years, Premium was frustrated by its inability to install motion sensors for their warehouse lighting. Their 400W Metal Halide High Bay lights made it impossible to install motions sensors, as the lights take up to 10 minutes to warm up and come to full brightness, once they are turned off.

GreenerVolts proposed upgrading their existing Metal Halide with our MA-100 LED Retrofit Corn Lamps, and some of our high bay motion sensors.

The final solution looks - and works – great. They reduced energy consumption related to their high bay light fixtures by approximately 75% just by upgrading to LEDs, and an additional estimated 5-10% by installing the motion sensors. Moreover, the warehouse is just as bright as – or brighter than – it was before the lighting upgrade.

The City of Cumberland | Cumberland, MD USA

Project Type: Interior Lighting

GV Lights: 4 foot tubes, MA-40, MA-80, MA-100

Estimated Electric Utility Savings: 70%

Incentives Applicable: Potomac Edison (MD)

The City of Cumberland, is a western gateway city and seat of Allegany County, Maryland, and the primary city of the Cumberland, MD-WV Metropolitan Statistical Area. Historically, Cumberland was known as the "Queen City," as it was once the second largest in the state. Because of its strategic location on what became known as the Cumberland Road through the Appalachians, after the American Revolution it served as a historical outfitting and staging point for westward emigrant trail migrations throughout the first half of the 1800s. In this role, it supported the settlement of the Ohio Country and the lands of in that latitude of the Louisiana Purchase. It also became an industrial center, served by major roads, a canal connecting to Washington, DC, and railroads.

Although a historical city, Cumberland is forward thinking in its environmental consciousness. They have upgraded several parking garages and other City-owned facilities to LED lighting, to save on energy consumption and maintenance costs.

GreenerVolts LED lights are in many parts of the city, including: water treatment plant, public safety building, parking garages, downtown street pedestrian mall, etc.

Western Maryland Health Systems | Cumberland, MD USA

Project Type: Parking Garage Lighting
